Taylor and Courtney were unified and confident when it came to answering the questions of students at today's Q & A in the Varsity Theater. Students gathered to hear how the candidates would respond. Here are some highlights.
Q. What distinguishes you from the other set of candidates?
A. "Courtney and I are both from small towns. We have that perspective coming into this. We love people in the small town way. We know everyone in our towns and we want to take that into our Presidency."
Q. Are you doing this just as a resume' builder?
A. "I've already served in BYUSA as an executive director for a year and that would have been sufficient if I was in this for myself and to build my resume'. I do it for the love of the people. I do it because I want to serve and give back."
Q. What are you going to do about the vending machines on campus which don't dispense the goods and broken microwaves?
A. "We could supply some whiffle bats so that the machines aren't damaged but you could hit it until it coughed up the goods." -Courtney
Memorable Quote: "The point of BYUSA is to bring forth good fruit and go forward with faith. That's what the gospel is all about as well." -Courtney
One student said when asked about Taylor and Courtney's showing today, "They are all around more personable. They promote BYUSA not as this exclusive institution but a simple way of living to better your life and those around you. Their initiatives focus on reaching out to individual students in specific ways and not through vague and pretentious declarations of overly idealized visions."
